So my sweet young one is under the weather today. I've kept him home because he was running a fever last night, and looks kind of puny today. That's how we say it in Texas, but it does look a little odd there on the screen. In any case, we're going to have a home day today. While I hate it when my children feel bad, I do love the opportunity to clear the calendar and hunker in for some serious down time. There's some cartoons, some books, and some napping, some hot tea and then I take care of the kids. Seriously. Sometimes I get so caught up in the minutia of daily demands, that I overstate the importance of it all - the running, and the doing, the hustling and the bustling. There's gift in knowing that when I need to be here, I can. And that everything else is extraneous, and can be put aside for the real priorities - the ones who have a scratchy throat and a stuffy nose. There's also gift in being able to recognize that and to acknowledge it.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go plump a pillow.
I love the extraneous when it includes sending me a load of Texas Highway mags in the mail. Thank you so much for all the great reading material and especially the cover with Robby Duvall! Whew baby, I love him in Lonesome Dove! Have fun in Tejas with all those fun gals. Say hey to the Junk Gypsies for me from a fellow B/CS'er. Maybe if there are no ponies for sale you could snag one of their bumper stickers for me?
