We just returned from a whirlwind trip to Ohio to visit John's mother and sister. The weather was perfect - cool at night and only in the mid-seventies during the day. It reminded me of the first time I went to Ohio in 1990 to meet John's family shortly before we became engaged. The weather then was just like this past weekend - and that was the first weekend in October!
We spent most of our time hanging out and visiting - and the kids played Five Crowns and Canasta. We went to Lebanon for the day on Friday and shopped at the antique shops there. I found some goodies for the shop and will take them up later today. Then my MIL and I went to a gigantic antique mall that's losing its lease on Sept. 1. Some of the dealers have already started the exodus and others have begun to mark down rather than prepare to move their junk stuff. I found some more items there, but only covered a third of the building before running out of time and steam.
Saturday we wandered around downtown Hamilton - which is known as a city of sculpture. It was also the home at one time, of Robert McCloskey author of "Make Way for Ducklings" as well as "Lentil" (not the Barbra Streisand version), "Homer Price" and many more. The city has honored Robert McCloskey with a statue of Lentil playing his beloved harmonica followed by his faithful pooch. What you can't see in this picture is the lizard in Lentil's pocket. It's a charming tribute to a prolific author, and to the children he wrote for.
Who shop? What shop? Where shop? I've never read anything about you having a stinking shop. Cough up the details sister!
