For the first time, my blog world and my real life collided when I discovered Doojie and friends were having the mother of all estate sales on Saturday - and that it was close enough for me to attend! Sweet hub went with me, and was a huge asset to the expedition. We got to meet Stephanie (another Texan - thankyouverymuch) and Janine whose house was spotlighted on Doojie's blog a month or so ago - and again last week. Ok - first of all the house was so pretty, beautiful attention to detail, lovely built-ins, great windows and a phenomenal back porch. And the stuff! We found some great treasures, and when hub went back to pick up the table and chairs that we couldn't fit in the van the first time, he found some more goodies! Like I said, it was very fruitful. There are more pix to come of the treasures from this event, but here's a gorgeous and HEAVY mirror that we purchased. The urn on the mantel (third from the left) was found there too.
As fun as it was to procure great treasures, by far the most fun part was meeting Stephanie, Janine and co. Being surrounded by creative, friendly people - it's a great way to start a Saturday morning!
Oh - and on the way home, we stopped at another sale and found these vases, candlesticks and birds. Everyone of them with the exception of the long rectangular one in the middle was found at that one sale! I couldn't pick them up fast enough.
I know that the setup is a little boring right now - but I'll jazz it up soon. Just wanted you to see all the pieces together. I have more in the living room (this is the dining room mantel), so together this is becoming quite a collection!)
I do still need to blog Mother's Day -- which was lovely except for the goofy man at the swim meet who spilled his orange soda on the back of my brand-new-just-took-the-tags-off-yesterday-morning-JCrew-pink-shirt-- and I'll add more pixs of the treasures as I put them in their places. Or maybe before I put them in their places - might not be able to wait for project completion! More soon . . . .
I love small world stuff, too. I can't believe how many things we have in common. It was so fun meeting y'all and fun to see how good your new treasures look. Hope to see you soon, Doojie
